The flamboyant southpaw from Delhi used to be an automatic choice for T20Is but is not being considered anymore because of his age. Shikhar is a regular feature on the Indian ODI side but it seems that the selectors have made it clear that he will not be considered for the shortest format. He last played a T20I in July 2021 against Sri Lanka.

The southpaw will turn 37 this year and that’s a valid reason behind not being considered. As of now, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are the first-choice openers for India in T20Is. Despite facing ignorance from the selectors Shikhar is doing pretty well in IPL 2022. He is a senior pro batter and is enjoying his cricket at the moment.

Dhawan has played 68 T20Is for India scoring 1759 runs at an average of 27.92 and a strike rate of 126.4. He has played 200 games in his IPL career and is currently second on the list of all-time leading runs scorers in IPL. He is playing for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 scoring 302 runs at an average of 43.14 in eight games.
