5 players who impressed elsewhere but failed in the IPL this year
While some of these players are able to continue their good form in the cricketing extravaganza called the IPL, a few of them aren't just as fortunate.
5. Glenn Maxwell
Australian batting firepower is embodied in Glenn Maxwell. Considering he’d been riding on the back of some sensational form from the BBL and the Trans-Tasman T20 Trophy before coming in for the IPL, many had expected to witness fireworks from the 29-year-old’s bat. Unfortunately for DD who bought Maxwell for a whopping sum of INR 9 crores, it was not to be.
Earlier in 2018, Maxwell had scored 287 runs in 7 BBL games and followed it up with 233 runs in 5 matches in the Trans-Tasman T20 Trophy that Australia eventually ended up winning. IPL, however, turned out to be a dampener for the Australian batting all-rounder as he amassed only 169 runs in 12 games at a poor average of 14.08 and managed to pick up only 5 scalps with the ball.
