The T20I tri-series involving the hosts Zimbabwe, Australia and Pakistan came to an end on Sunday. Also, on the same evening, the three-match series in the same format between India and England concluded with the visitors winning the contest. Pakistan strengthened their top spot by beating the Men in Yellow in the final. But the Australian captain Aaron Finch was in scintillating form in the series and has become the number 1 batsman in the T20I format in the latest ICC rankings.

He climbed from the fourth spot to the top after scoring 306 runs in 5 matches at an average of 76.5 and an incredible strike-rate of 201.31. Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman also lightened up the series with his aggressive knock during a week-long tri-series. His 91-run knock in the title clash in the chase helped his team win the trophy. He was also rewarded for his efforts and is now second in the list only behind Finch.

D’Arcy Short has also entered into the top 10 rankings after his superlative innings of 76 runs in the final against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma is placed at the eleventh position after his awe-inspiring ton in the decider against England in Bristol.

There are no changes in the bowling and all-rounder rankings which are being ruled by Rashid Khan and Glenn Maxwell respectively.

What about the team rankings?

Pakistan, after winning the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, have consolidated their numero uno position in the format with 132 points. Their arch-rivals India are second in the list after trumping England the other night in a chase of 199 runs in Bristol. But they are eight points behind the Men in Green who are sitting pretty at the top now. Australia are also benefitted with their decent performance in the tri-series as they are only a couple of points behind India.

England, however, have dropped to fourth after losing the home series to the Men in Blue and now have 117 rating points to their name. The likes of New Zealand, South Afric and Windies follow then as Afghanistan are still ahead of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the shortest format of the game.
