England has unearthed many match-winners but there has been hardly any of the caliber of James Anderson. He is the most successful pacer in the history of Test cricket, picking up an insane tally of 675 wickets in 177 matches at an average of 26.13.

Anderson was quite stunning in 2022 and set the international ablaze with his bowling performances. He took 36 wickets in nine Tests at a stellar average of 19.80, including a sensational four-wicket haul in the second innings of the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Though Anderson has not stopped rattling batters with his swing, he is 40 years old and one might reckon The Ashes 2023 might be his last Test assignment. England possess many gun pacers such as Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson, and Sam Curran in their arsenal and the bowling maestro might pass on the torch to the coming generation, bringing down curtains on a fabulous career.
