3 Indian players who might not get chance in playing XI on England tour
With stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from Tests, the attention will now be on a young team under Shubman Gill.
2. Kuldeep Yadav
Left-arm wrist spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, may find himself on the bench in this English summer. The 30-year-old, who has taken 56 wickets in 13 Tests at an average of 22.16, is part of the squad but faces tough competition for a spot in the playing XI.
With Ravindra Jadeja being India’s most experienced spinner and an automatic choice in the starting line-up, especially after Ravi Ashwin’s retirement, the probability of India fielding two spinners in English conditions is less. Historically, only one spinner featured in Indian XIs in SENA countries, and Jadeja’s experience, including 12 Tests in England, makes him the frontrunner. If India decides to rotate or rest Jadeja, Washington Sundar might be preferred over Kuldeep. Sundar, a reliable off-spinner and a solid lower-order batter, has played nine Tests and has already impressed with both bat and ball overseas.
