The fourth week of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) concluded after Mumbai Indians’ intriguing nine-run win triumph over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali. In Mumbai’s spectacular win, Jasprit Bumrah, along with Suryakumar Yadav looked confident. The India speedster grabbed 3/21 figures in his four-over spell and also received the Player of the Match award.

For both India stalwarts Bumrah and Suryakumar, the week was fantabulous, however, some Indian names failed to justify their roles in their teams in the last week of the competition. Taking this conversation ahead, let’s discuss flop India XI of the competition’s fourth week.

Here is the flop India XI of the fourth week:

1. Prabhsimran Singh

PBKS top-order batter Prabhsimran Singh has struggled to be among the runs in this competition, thus far. In the fourth week, Punjab lost their both games and Prabhsimran looked completely out of rhythm with his scores of 10 (14) and a one-ball duck.

2. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane was tasked to open the innings for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the illustrious Wankhede Stadium. The veteran got dismissed in the second over of the game, scoring only five off eight deliveries with just one four.

3. Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan produced some impactful knocks for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the initial weeks of the competition, but in week four, he could score only 12 runs off nine balls against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the distinguished Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

4. Rajat Patidar

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost their only game in the week against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Following a score of 288 runs, RCB got an electrifying start from captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. After the dismissal of both openers, the responsibility was on Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar. In the crunch situation, Patidar departed after amassing only nine runs off five balls.

5. Hardik Pandya (C)

Hardik Pandya has looked horrendous with both bat and ball in this competition. In week four, Mumbai fell 20 runs short while chasing 206 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Hardik, as a bowler, leaked 43 runs in his three overs while with his bat, he could score only two off six balls. In MI’s next contest against Punjab Kings (PBKS), he again put up a flop show with his bat, scoring only 10 off six deliveries.

6. Jitesh Sharma (WK)

PBKS recorded two defeats in the previous week and Punjab’s batting unit looked disastrous in both games. Jitesh Sharma, whose responsibility was to reinforce the middle order, lacked confidence with his bat. Against Rajasthan Royals (RR), he played a lethargic knock of 29 off 24. In the next match against MI, the wicket-keeper batter got trapped on his score of nine runs by Akash Madhwal.

7. Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya has failed to do wonders with both bat and ball in this tournament. Against DC at the EKANA Stadium, he went wicketless and gave away 45 runs in his three-over spell. After failing the DC challenge, LSG were handed a thumping defeat at the hands of KKR at the Eden Gardens. This time, Krunal failed to justify his role with the ball, bowling only one over and giving away 14 runs.

8. Ravichandran Ashwin

RR bagged a two-wicket win against the Knight Riders in Kolkata, riding on Jos Buttler’s unbeaten ton. Earlier, bowling first after winning the toss, Rajasthan’s bowling attack got hammered mercilessly and their senior bowler Ravichandran Ashwin also couldn’t contain the flow of runs. In his four-over spell, the veteran didn’t get any wickets and also conceded 49 runs.

9.  Bhuvneshwar Kumar

SRH thumped RCB by 25 runs in Bengaluru in the last week but their premier bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar lacked discipline with the ball. The veteran speedster splurged 60 runs in his four-over spell without scalping any wickets.

10. Yash Dayal

Yash Dayal put up a terrible bowling show against SRH at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium the previous week. The paceman leaked 51 runs in his four-over spell, without getting any wickets. The left-arm pacer hasn't found success in things he has tried for the Bengaluru-based franchise. Added with a poor economy rate, Dayal makes it to the list of the underwhelming performances from the fourth week.

11. Vyshak Vijaykumar

During the RCB vs SRH contest at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the former’s bowling unit got outclassed completely. Vyshak Vijay Kumar was one of the most expensive bowlers in the match, giving away 64 runs in his four overs.
