After witnessing Prithvi Shaw’s performance in the last five years, no iota of any doubt remains regarding his ability as a batter. However, a few years back, the young batter showed his captaincy skills as well, leading a young Indian contingent in the 2018 ICC World Cup. Under his supervision, the India U-19 team won the trophy for the fourth time. Throughout the tournament, Shaw and Co. looked dominant as they didn't lose a single game.

Along with his captaincy, Shaw also exuded confidence with the bat. Racking up 261 runs with two half-centuries in six matches at a strike rate of 94.56, Shaw ended up becoming the second-leading run-scorer for his team. His magnificent performance in the U-19 World Cup attracted DC's attention at the 2018 mega-auction.

The franchise invested INR 1.2 crore in Shaw to reserve his services in the tournament. Realizing his responsibilities, the talented youngster did justice with his role, smashing 245 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 153.12. Currently, the 23-year-old is an integral part of DC on account of his incredible opening batting skills. After so many years of association with the franchise, he has won the confidence of DC as a batter. In the future, his experience in the league might make him a strong contender for captaining the side as well.
