T20 World Cup 2022: 7 In-form players who will miss the tournament
There are some top performers in white-ball cricket who have performed exceptionally well at the bigger stages of late but have missed out on the spot for the T20 World Cup.
6. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit. In IPL 2022, the 27-year-old displayed sheer class with the bat. He accumulated 458 runs at an impressive strike rate of 146.79 in 17 matches for Rajasthan Royals and played an instrumental role in his side reaching the Finals.
Samson was also quite consistent in the international circuit this year. He featured in six T20Is and scored 179 runs at a strike rate of 158.41. The Kerela batter also was part of six ODIs in this calendar year and scored 130 runs at a strike rate of 101.56.
Despite putting on a great show with the bat, the wicket-keeper batter failed to make it to India’s squad for the World Cup. He was competing for a backup batter spot with Deepak Hooda who offers flexibility to bat at any position and gives the team an extra bowling option. The batting all-rounder gave the team more balance and thus was selected over Samson.
