While some are celebrated with grand send-offs, and others leave without a final match to say goodbye to their fans. In recent times, there are a number of players who have retired from Test cricket without the honor of a proper farewell. Here are five cricketers who exited the longest format of the game without a final appearance to mark their departure.

Ravichandran Ashwin
Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin established himself as one of the modern greats of Test cricket, but he retired without receiving a proper farewell on the field. The spinner claimed an impressive 537 wickets in 200 Test innings which made him the eighth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the format. The Chennai-born cricketer also registered 37 five-wicket hauls and became the first bowler to take 100 wickets in the World Test Championship.
Ashwin’s final appearance came during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, a day-night match against Australia. He announced his retirement from all formats of the game on the final day of the third Test in Brisbane which left fans and the cricketing world without a chance to bid him a farewell.
