Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 10th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. The match is set to happen at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where KKR have not lost against RCB since 2015. Given the record of the visiting side, it promises to be a great game of cricket. Both teams would be high on confidence, having won their last match in the league. KKR will be highly confident about their chances.

They defeated SRH despite being reduced to 51/4 at one stage in the match. The key for KKR would be to face RCB who will be high on confidence. The home side has some very good players in the lineup. In the opening order, RCB have the experienced batters like Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli. The great cricketers have formed the best opening pair for a team since the IPL 2023. In addition to it, RCB has some talented and emerging players who are willing to make a name for themselves.

Rajat Patidar, Mahipal Lomror, Anuj Rawat, Yash Dayal, and Mayank Dagar are some such players. In addition to it, RCB has some of the established stars who have played a lot in the last 2-3 years at the highest level. It includes the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Dinesh Karthik, Mohammad Siraj, and so on. KKR would be up for the challenge given their better head-to-head record over RCB, In the IPL 2023, KKR defeated RCB in both games.

Here is the probable playing XI of KKR for the match against RCB in IPL 2024, Match 10:

Top order: Phil Salt and Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine was tried as the opener of KKR again. The star performer opened for KKR in the period 2017-19 where he was highly aggressive and played impactful knocks at the top. With the second opener not firing in the IPL 2023, the management decided to try him as the opener in the game against SRH. While the West Indian was dismissed early in the innings, he is liklely to get an extended run at the position. He has a great record against RCB.

To partner him at the top would be Phil Salt. The English gave a fantastic start for KKR against SRH. Due to the collapse at the other end, he resorted to anchoring from his end. Regardless, he registered a fifty on KKR's debut. Salt will be aggressive from his end at the top which will allow others to bat the way they want. In addition to it, KKR has two more options for opening in KS Bharat and Rahmanullah Gurbaz both of whom can be fiery at the top and keep wickets.

Venkatesh Iyer is likely to continue as the number three of KKR. He has been chopped and changed in a lot of position by KKR in the last three seasons. It might have not helped his confidence. But KKR might back him to deliver the goods at number 3. To follow him would be KKR's skipper, Shreyas Iyer, who registered a 2-ball duck on his IPL return against SRH. The star batter would be hoping to do well with the bat come the game against RCB.

To follow him would be Nitish Rana, who has not been able to score a lot of runs in the last couple of seasons. The Southpaw can be aggressive in the middle order with his numbers against spinners. When in flow, it is not easy to stop the middle-order batter. At number 6, KKR is likely to continue with Ramandeep Singh. The talented player showed glimpses of what he could do as a batter in the game against SRH. His cameo helped KKR to be back in the game.

All-Rounders - Rinku Singh and Andre Russell

Rinku Singh is likely to bat at 7 for KKR. The Southpaw has a reputation for finishing innings in the last year or so. The star batter has the ability to win matches on his own. The major display of it came in the IPL 2023 where he smashed five sixes in the last five balls of the match to seal a major win against Gujarat Titans. Since then, Rinku has scored runs for India against every opponent at the highest level. He can anchor the innings in a collapse and finish the innings after a good start.

To follow him would be the power-hitting menace, Andre Russell. The Caribbean giant smashed the bowlers for fun in the first match of KKR against SRH and returned to form in style. With the ball, he claimed 2/25 in his spell of two overs. At his best, Russell can win the matches both as a batter and as a bowler. He is one of the best All-Rounders in the world currently. In addition to it, KKR has the likes of Rinku Singh, Rana, and Venkatesh who can bowl as well.

Bowlers - Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma (Impact substitute)

KKR has a good variety in their bowling lineup. With the new ball, KKR has the left-arm pacer in Mitchell Starc who can swing the ball away from the left-handers. The star pacer can be good at the death with his yorkers and bouncers, though he went expensive against SRH. To assist him would be Harshit Rana who gave a memorable performance against SRH. Early in the innings, he claimed the wicket of Mayank Agarwal. He later came in to bowl the last over.

When 12 runs were needed in the last over, Rana claimed the big wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed to win the match for the home side. In the middle overs phase, KKR has three spin options like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Suyash Sharma. While Narine was brilliant with his spell of 4/19(4), Chakravarthy was smashed by the batters of SRH. Suyash bowled well and conceded 18 runs in his two overs. KKR also have Russell who can bowl a few overs from his end.
