'Love playing for this team' - Sree Charani shares her excitement on return to DC for WPL 2026
Following her signing, she shared that returning to the franchise feels like home.
Indian spinner Sree Charani has expressed her happiness after being picked once again by Delhi Capitals (DC) for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season. The 21-year-old, who first made her WPL debut with DC in 2025, was bought for INR 1.3 crore in the 2026 auction. Following her signing, she shared that returning to the franchise feels like home.
Charani has come out to be one of India’s brightest young bowling talents. After an impressive 2025 season and strong Women's World Cup performances, she attracted heavy interest at the WPL 2026 auction. Delhi Capitals, who first backed her in the 2024 auction for INR 55 lakh, retained her services this year. Along with Charani, the franchise also picked key players like Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, and Sneh Rana, strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.
"Before the auction, I was just hoping to play in WPL this season with any team. But I am very happy to be back with the Delhi Capitals. It feels like home and I love playing for this team," she said while speaking to JioHotstar.

Having made her tournament debut with the franchise, she feels a sense of belonging within the squad. Charani added that being picked again gives her confidence and motivation to contribute even more in the upcoming season.
"I feel very proud to be part of Delhi Capitals again. This is my chance to contribute to the team once more. I'm grateful to be back with DC and looking forward to a good season ahead. I'm just hoping for the best to happen for our team," she added.

Delhi Capitals’ senior all-rounder Sneh Rana praised the franchise’s decision and called Charani the team’s best young pick. Rana also stressed that the squad’s combination looks strong this year and that they hope to finally lift the WPL trophy.
