Kane Williamson provided an important update on the extent of David Miller's injury that ruled him out of the clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

At the toss, Gujarat's new captain Shubman Gill said that Miller was ruled out of the clash due to a niggle. Williamson replaced the South African batter in the playing XI. Shikhar Dhawan won the toss for Punjab and elected to bowl first. Williamson batted at No. 3 and scored a 22-ball 26. On the back of Shubman's unbeaten 48-ball 89, the Titans finished on 199/4 in their 20 overs.

During the mid-innings show, Williamson told the broadcaster in an interview that Miller is likely to miss up to two weeks of action due to his injury.

"Nice to be out there with the guys. A shame to lose David (Miller) for a week or two," Williamson said in the mid-innings show.

The 33-year-old, who is regarded as one of the finest batters in modern-day cricket, lauded Shubman for his sublime knock that comprised six fours and four sixes. "Shubman (Gill) is a fantastic player," said Williamson during the interview.

Chasing the 200-run target, Punjab reached 13/0 in the first over. However, Umesh Yadav struck with his first ball in the second over as the reliable Dhawan departed. Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh hit a flurry of boundaries but both of them failed to convert their starts into substantial scores.

The Titans kept on picking wickets at regular intervals and pegged back the Kings. However, the away team maintained a healthy run rate throughout their innings. Shashank Singh was promoted to No. 6 and the 32-year-old didn't disappoint as he scored an unbeaten 61 off 29 balls to take his team home. Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma also played a very handy cameo of 31 runs off 17 balls and served as the perfect foil for Shashank. In the end, Punjab won the match with three wickets and a ball to spare.
