IPL Schedule 2021

Cricket fans must brace themselves as the second leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is just around the corner. The gala T20 tournament will resume on September 19 with all the remaining games taking place in UAE. 29 of the 60 scheduled games have already been done and dusted. Hence, the competition would be different for all the teams.

While some sides are on the cusp of securing a place in the playoffs, a few are struggling to stay survive in the competition. This means the UAE leg has a lot in prospect and all teams must gear up to unleash their best show. For the unversed, the celebrated T20 event was initially scheduled to take place in April-May. However, the second wave of the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic forced BCCI to suspend the tournament midway.

Nevertheless, IPL is set to return soon and fans have their eyes on the calendar. After all, IPL is arguably the most celebrated T20 competition across the globe with prominent players from different parts plying their trade. While the past 12 editions witnessed some exciting contest between the bat and the ball, the intensity was high in the first phase of this year’s IPL as well.

Speaking of how the competition panned out, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore enjoyed a sensational run, having lost just two games in the first leg. Only a massive turnaround can deny their places in the playoffs. Defending Champions Mumbai Indians also performed decently, winning four of their seven games. However, they must buckle up to clinch their third title on the trot.

Fifth and sixth-placed teams, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings respectively blew hot and cold in the first leg, having won just three games. Hence, they have some jobs to do in the Arab nation. The remaining two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a horrendous campaign. While KKR won just two games, SRH only has one victory and stand last on the IPL points table.

Hence, not many are backing them to change their fortunes. Meanwhile, the UAE leg spans from September 19 to October 15 with the matches taking place in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. While the evening matches will get underway at 7:30 PM IST, encounters in day time have a start time of 3:30 PM IST.
