The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026.

This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.

The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course. And all the remaining updates regarding the happening of the white-ball bilateral series ahead of the important Asia Cup remains to be confirmed by either of the governing bodies.

Clouds loom over Asia Cup 2025

Speaking of the upcoming Asia Cup, there were high possibilities that the multi-team continental tournament will not happen without the involvement of the Indian team, amid the rising political tensions of their national government with Pakistan. However, multiple media reports have confirmed that while the tournament may proceed as planned, India and Pakistan may refuse to play each other for geopolitical concerns from the governments of either country.

India, who are the defending champions of the tournament that was last held in 2023, will enter as favourites once again. Notably, the upcoming season of the marquee event will be held in the 20-over format, keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2026, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Both India and Pakistan have maintained a stance of silence on the issue, and have been hell-bent on adhering to the respective government directives.

India will be playing their first-ever major tournament with the Asia Cup ever since their triumphant campaign at the T20 World Cup 2024, where Rohit Sharma and his men emerged the ultimate winners by defeating South Africa in the finals. Now that Rohit has retired, Suryakumar Yadav is expected to lead the Men in Blue for the upcoming tournament in the shortest format of the game.
