'Could be 4-0 now Wasim' - Michael Vaughan takes cheeky dig at Jaffer after India's Headingley defeat
Ben Duckett was awarded the Player of the Match in the first Test.
India’s opening Test against England at Headingley ended on a disappointing note, as the hosts pulled off a five-wicket win while chasing 371 runs. After the game, former England captain Michael Vaughan and ex-India opener Wasim Jaffer, who share a light-hearted relationship on social media, once again were involved in a banter.
Vaughan took a dig at Jaffer after England took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. “Evening @WasimJaffer14.. Hope you are ok .. #1-0,” Vaughan tweeted. The former Indian opener appreciated the young team under Shubman Gill and congratulated the England team for the win.
However, Jaffer mentioned that the side will bounce back. "Happy that a young Indian team got you worried like this. Enjoy the win, Michael, we'll be back. #ENGvIND," he wrote. To which the former English skipper wrote, "Could be 4-0 now Wasim."

Vaughan also took to X to troll India’s poor fielding in the Test, and mentioned he could become their fielding coach. He referred to the multiple dropped catches that allowed Ben Duckett to score a match-winning 149.
"Just to let you know, I have offered myself to India as a fielding coach. My academy does a roaring trade," he tweeted.
Duckett’s performance earned him the Player of the Match award and gave the hosts a much-needed lead in the five-match series. India will be hurt by a game they should have won. Centuries from four of their players took them to a strong position in both innings. But collapses of 7/41 and 6/31 in both innings, along with poor catching and an underwhelming bowling unit, cost them the game.
