IPL 2024: Kieron Pollard gets involved in argument with match official during clash with CSK

Mumbai Indians’ batting coach, Kieron Pollard, caught the headlines during his side’s recent clash against Chennai Super Kings. The former West Indies all-rounder was seen having an argument with the match official after a DRS review did not go the way of the hosts. 

Aiming to chase down a target of 207 runs, Mumbai Indians felt hard done by a wide call; even taking a review for the same brought forth no result. The same saw Pollard having an animated discussion with the match official, the clip of which has been going viral all over social media. 

Furthermore, things went from bad to worse as skipper Hardik Pandya was dismissed on the very next ball of the over, putting a major dent in the side’s plan to chase down the mammoth target. 

Chennai Super Kings stay in playoff contention

Speaking of Chennai Super Kings, the side managed to register a comfortable victory against Mumbai Indians. Having played six games in the tournament so far, Chennai have managed to register four wins so far and have lost two games. Currently, the five-time champions find themselves in third place in the standings with eight points in six matches as they maintain their position in the race to the playoffs. 

On the other hand, things have worsened for Mumbai Indians. With two wins and four losses, Mumbai Indians sit in eighth place in the standings with just four points in six matches. The five-time champions seem to be struggling under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. 

Defeating Mumbai by 20 runs, Chennai will now shift their focus onto Lucknow Super Giants, as they are all set to travel to the Ekana Stadium to face the side in the 34th game of the tournament on Friday, April 19. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK will be in search of their fifth win of the season, staying in the race for the playoffs.
