POTM Varun Chakravarthy said:

"The plan was to make him (Rohit) hit across the line, obviously there was help from the wicket and I was able to use it to my advantage. Tactically we (talking about Narine) are similar, but technically we are slightly different. The wickets were too flat initially, my bowling has been same from the first match and it is just that the results are showing up now," Chakravarthy said.

Winning skipper Shreyas Iyer said:

"I think I manifested this before the game (on becoming the 1st side to qualifty for the playoffs). Nerves were there, boys have been raising their hands and there have been many game-changers and kudos to each and every one of them. I feel whichever team plays the best, they got a great chance to win. They were going at great guns in the first 6 overs, and to bounce back from that situation it was nice to see. I wasn't thinking about stats or records, the weather wasn't great but we won the game and that's what is more important. It's all about understanding which bowler is doing well on that particular day, I feel both of them bowled well and my gut went with Varun (on bowling the 4th over) at that point and I backed him," Iyer said.

Losing skipper Hardik Pandya said:

"Tough one, yeah. As a batting unit, the foundation was there but we could not capitalize after that and keep the momentum up. The wicket was a little up and down and a little tacky so momentum was very important. I think it was a par score, given the conditions, felt that the bowlers did well. Every ball that came back from the boundary came back wet. The bowlers made sure they kept taking wickets. (On his thoughts for the next game) Nothing, just to go and enjoy as much as we can and play good cricket, that’s been my motto from the start. I don’t think we’ve played enough good cricket this season," Pandya said.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continue their ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 campaign by taking on five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the 60th game of the tournament on Saturday, May 11.

Kolkata Knight Riders have been in exceptional form in the tournament so far, staying atop the IPL 2024 standings with eight wins and three losses. The side holds the number one spot in the points table with 16 points to their name, ahead of Rajasthan Royals on net run rate. The two-time champions will take on MI with three consecutive wins in their previous games.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have already been eliminated from the tournament, and any wins from here will only be a consolation prize. With four wins and eight losses in 12 matches, MI currently occupy eighth place in the standings.

After four consecutive losses, the side managed to win their previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad after a masterclass ton by Suryakumar Yadav. The five-time champions will aim to derail KKR’s plan and grab a consolation win against the table-toppers.

Probable Playing XI:

Kolkata Knight Riders- Phil Salt (WK), Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi/Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer (C), Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Mitchell Starc, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy

Impact Player - Suyash Sharma

Mumbai Indians - Ishan Kishan (WK), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hardik Pandya (C), Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah

Impact substitute - Nuwan Thushara
