IPL 2025: Faf du Plessis, Tristan Stubbs to rejoin DC squad ahead of resumption

The Delhi Capitals (DC) will be relieved to have two of their best players, Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs, back in the squad again for the remainder of the IPL 2025. The franchise announced that the players will join them for the tournament. However, Stubbs will only be available until the league stage and then will fly back home to prepare for the World Test Championship (WTC) finals 2025. 

Stubbs is named in South Africa's Test squad for the WTC, which is scheduled on June 11, against Australia. The DC understand the importance of the match and therefore, will let go of their player if they reach the playoffs. The Delhi-based franchise is not yet sure about their qualification yet as they have six wins in 11 matches. They started off their IPL 2025 with four back-to-back wins, but the tables turned for them in the tournament. 

The Axar Patel-led team lost a few matches and is now struggling to reach the playoffs. Moreover, they still have some three games left, which they have to win at any cost to proceed to the knockouts. As the tournament will start again, most of the teams that are in a similar spot would hope for a change in fortune to get into the playoffs.

"JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals on Saturday confirmed that Vice-captain Faf du Plessis and teammate Tristan Stubbs have rejoined the team ahead of the resumption of IPL 2025," a DC press release stated.

Faf and Stubbs have been an asset to the team, helping them win matches. In six matches, Faf has scored 128 runs with two fifties, while Stubbs has 259 runs in 11 matches, at an average of 51. If DC qualifies for the playoffs, they will need a strong middle-order batter to replace Stubbs, as he has been phenomenal for the team.
