New Zealand's left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox’s international career is unlike most cricketers. The 31-year-old grabbed headlines not just for making his ODI debut for New Zealand against India in Rajkot, but also for his LinkedIn profile, which displayed his working professional’s life before making his cricketing career.
New Zealand handed Jayden Lennox his maiden ODI cap in the second match of the series against India at the Niranjan Shah Stadium on January 14. He replaced leg-spinner Adithya Ashok in a must-win game after New Zealand’s loss in the series opener. Introduced into the attack in the 10th over by skipper Michael Bracewell, Lennox conceded just two runs in his first over. He went on to finish with figures of 1 for 42 in 10 overs.

However, Lennox’s LinkedIn profile revealed his life before cricket. A graduate with a diploma in Science & Technology, Environmental Science, and Geography from Massey University, he worked various full-time and part-time jobs while pursuing cricket.
His roles included working as a greenskeeper at Palmerston Golf Course in Australia, a field technician at Aqualinc Research Limited, an assembly technician at Hustler Equipment, and a part-time laboratory technician at ARL in 2024. His profile describes him as highly motivated and dedicated, with experience in handling pressure.
Jayden Lennox’s domestic career
Before making his international debut, Lennox had a solid domestic career. He has represented Central Districts since 2019 and has featured in 21 first-class, 54 List A, and 45 T20 matches. In List A cricket, he had taken 69 wickets from 54 matches.
Lennox made his T20 debut in the 2021 Super Smash, delivering a match-winning spell of 2 for 17, which included wickets of Dean Brownlie and Tim Seifert. He was also part of Central Districts’ squad in the 2025 Global Super League in the West Indies, where he thrived on slow surfaces and finished as one of the more economical bowlers in the tournament.
