The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) explained why team India and other participating nations do not have Pakistan's name mentioned on their respective jerseys considering they're the co-hosts of the Asia Cup 2023. Notably, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting the ACC event which kickstarted on August 30 and will run till September 17.

With three matches played thus far, fans have noticed that the jerseys of the participants do not have ‘Pakistan’ or ‘Sri Lanka’ mentioned on them as the hosts. As per the latest reports, the PCB provided a clarification as they stated that the Asian Cricket Council decided to stop using the hosts’ names on the jersey in a meeting held in 2022.

“At an Asian Cricket Council meeting last year, it was decided the practice of the hosts’ name on the players’ shirts will be stopped,” a source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board told the Times of India (TOI).

However, as per reports, a BCCI source refuted the claim made by PCB on any such decision made by the ACC. It is worth mentioning that in the previous edition, the jerseys had ‘Sri Lanka 2022’ mentioned on them. With the discrepancy noted by the fans and members of the cricketing fraternity, the ACC faced severe backlash on the move.
