India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav picked the best skipper and best batter of all time for the country in each of the three formats of international cricket.
During a recent interview, he picked the inspirational Rohit Sharma, his fellow Mumbai Indians teammate, as the greatest Indian captain of all time. Suryakumar noted that he has played most of his cricket under Rohit's captaincy.
"Look, I have played most of my cricket under Rohit Sharma, so Rohit Sharma," Suryakumar said during an interview with News24.
Rohit led India in 142 matches across the three formats. His significant achievements as captain include winning the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy earlier this year. Apart from this, Rohit has also won the Indian Premier League (IPL) on five occasions as a captain.
In ODI cricket, Suryakumar went on to pick Rohit and Virat Kohli as the best batters. Incidentally, both the former India captains will return to international cricket during the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting on October 19.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar named Sachin Tendulkar as the best batter in the longest format of the game. The Master Blaster finished his Test career with 15,921 runs from 200 Tests at a staggering average of 53.79. In T20Is, after some thought, Suryakumar picked himself as the greatest batter. In 90 T20Is, the flamboyant batter has amassed 2670 runs at an average of 37.08 and a strike rate of 164.21.
2028 Olympics and the T20 World Cup are in my mind: Suryakumar Yadav
During the interaction, the 35-year-old Suryakumar revealed that he is willing to play the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
“Right now, how it feels is that I am almost 34 or 35. I feel that if I focus properly on white-ball cricket for the next three to four years, it will be better for me and for the team. I will be able to contribute much more effectively there. If you want the truth, maybe the 2028 Olympics and the T20 World Cup are in my mind. I will carefully see how things go. This year and next year, I also need to keep my body fit. You know, when you reach 37 or 38," Suryakumar said.

Suryakumar also mentioned that had he not been a cricketer, he would have ventured into the business world, especially after getting married to his wife, Devisha Shetty, who comes from a business background.
“I would have definitely been doing business, 100%. I have some business sense. And ever since I got married, because my wife comes from a complete business background, from a business family, talking with her has made me realize that if I didn’t play cricket, how I could have doubled, tripled, or quadrupled my money," he concluded.
