The Netherlands will face UAE in their very first match of the T20 World Cup 2022.
The Netherlands played some really good cricket in order to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022 as they made it to the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 but against the big boys, things will be very different for Scott Edwards and company.
However, the Netherlands can hope to make it to the Super 12 of the competition as they had up a solid show against New Zealand earlier this year. In the first T20I of the two-match series, they had restricted the Kiwis to just 148 runs as Logan van Beek and Shariz Ahmad were brilliant with the ball.
With the bat, Bas De Leede showed extreme grit and scored 66 off 53 deliveries. Even though the team failed to bag the win on the day, they were breathing down New Zealand's neck for the major part of the game.
Coming to their World Cup squad, Max O'Dowd, Logan van Beek and captain Scott Edwards will be crucial during the T20 World Cup. The team will play a couple of warm-up games against Scotland and the West Indies before playing against UAE, Namibia and Sri Lanka in the mega tournament. With only two teams slated to make it to Super 12 from each group of the First Round, the Netherlands will have to be at their best.
