[WATCH] ENG vs IND 2025: Ball goes one way, bat goes another as Rishabh Pant perishes after entertaining knock at Edgbaston
Pant fell to Shoaib Bashir for the second time in the ongoing Edgbaston Test.
Rishabh Pant's entertaining 65-run knock came to an end in the second session of Day 4 of the second Test of the ongoing five-match series between England and India. The southpaw was once again dismissed by Shoaib Bashir, this time at the long-off fence. While the ball flew towards the direction of Ben Duckett near the boundary, the bat slipped out of Pant's hands to land near midwicket.
The lack of pace on the ball and the dip did it for Pant, who lost his shape while trying to dispatch the ball over the fence. This was nOt the first time that Pant had lost grip of his bat while going for the big shot, as a similar incident occurred earlier in the day when Josh Tongue was bowling.

Meanwhile, Pant's brisk knock comprised eight fours and three sixes. Interestingly, this was the third time that the wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed by the off-spinner in this series. All of those balls were bowled under the 80 kmph mark. Pant was the fourth wicket to fall for India, who are currently aiming on maximising their lead and having as many overs as necessary to bowl out the hosts.
Pant combined with skipper Shubman Gill to forge a 103-ball 110-run partnership for the fourth wicket. The left-hander was the aggressor between the two as skipper Gill seemed more than happy to rotate the strike and let Pant play the boundary shots. As for Gill, he would be aiming to notch up a ton in the current innings after a record-breaking 269-run knock off 387 deliveries in the first innings.
