A stunning acrobatic grab by Brydon Carse in the deep brought about the dismissal of Shai Hope during the first ODI of the three-match series between England and West Indies at Edgbaston. The West Indian skipper was dismissed for 25 off 21. He was his side's fourth wicket to fall in an attempted run-chase of a mammoth 401 for victory.

It was a surprise bouncer from Saqib Mahmood which induced an instinctive pull from Hope. In fact, the ball came off the top-edge of the bat and was travelling flat and quick towards Carse at deep square leg. Carse had initially misjudged the trajectory of the ball. He ended up going off the ground in a superbly athletic attempt to snaffle the ball out of thin air.

No. 11 batter, Jayden Seales, top-scored for West Indies with an unbeaten 29 off 14. West Indies' top five contributed only 69 runs in what was a quite lackluster display of batting by the Hope-led outfit.
