[WATCH] IPL 2025: Rashid Khan names Indian legends as his favorite batter, bowler, and all-rounder
Rashid is currently in India, playing in the 18th edition of the IPL. He recently attended an event in Mohali, where he was asked to name his favourite cricketers.
Rashid Khan has bowled to some of the finest batters in international cricket and also in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 26-year-old has played six Tests, 114 ODIs, and 96 T20Is so far for the Blue Tigers and picked up 45, 199, and 161 wickets, respectively.
Rashid is currently in India, playing in the 18th edition of the IPL. He recently attended an event in Mohali, where he was asked to name his favourite cricketers. The Nangarhar-born picked Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah as his favourite batter, all-rounder, and bowler, respectively.
"Hardik Pandya. He is my favorite all-rounder. Batter Virat bhai and bowler Jasprit Bumrah," the legendary Afghanistan leg-spinner said in a video posted on 'X'.
Another dismal IPL season for Rashid Khan
In IPL 2023, Rashid picked up 27 wickets (17 matches), his highest in a particular season. However, last year, he could only manage 10 wickets from 12 games at an average of 36.70. Experts and fans felt that it was a one-off bad outing for the stalwart in the cash-rich league. Gujarat Titans (GT) management also gave a vote of confidence to the leg-spinner, retaining him for a whopping INR 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
However, Rashid's indifferent form has continued in IPL 2025. He has only managed nine wickets in 14 games. His average has been a poor to 53.67. Rashid has conceded runs at an economy rate of 9.47. These abysmal numbers are difficult to associate with him.
However, the veteran has a chance to redeem himself in the playoffs as Gujarat finished third at the end of the league phase. They will face Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Rashid loves the big stage and he would have to play a key role if GT are to win their second IPL title.
