The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) is set to pay a heartfelt tribute to the late music legend Zubeen Garg in the upcoming opening ceremony of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in Guwahati. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that a special 40-minute show will be dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of the heartthrob of Assam.

Garg, a celebrated Bollywood and Assamese singer, tragically passed away recently, leaving the state and the nation in mourning. His untimely death has plunged Assam into an emotional standstill, with fans flooding the streets to bid farewell to their beloved icon. Across the country and beyond, tributes have poured in from artists, leaders, and admirers, underlining the depth of Garg’s influence. Indian youngster Riyan Parag also expressed his grief in a heartfelt post on Saturday, September 20.

Adding to the wave of homage, the BCCI secretary confirmed that the upcoming Women’s World Cup curtain-raiser between India and Sri Lanka at Barsapara Stadium on September 30 will feature a special program celebrating Garg’s legacy, as reported by Sportstar.
