Maharaja Trophy 2025, Match 19 Review: Pravin Dubey seals last-ball win for Gulbarga Mystics over Mysore Warriors
Dubey remained unbeaten on 53 runs off 19 balls with seven sixes to take the Mystics to top of the table
Pravin Dubey thumped seven sixes under pressure, including one off the last ball, to pull off a mammoth seven-wicket victory over the Mysore Warriors at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20. KV Siddharth (49* off 34) and Smaran R (38 off 24) made vital contributions to set up the platform for Dubey’s antics.
Earlier in the day, Venkatesh M (93* off 53) and Yashovardhan Parantap (48 off 24) had taken the Mysore Warriors to a formidable total of 209/5 after a sluggish start.
Luvnith Sisodia (37 off 13) gave the Mystics a thunderous start, smashing K Gowtham for four sixes in the first four balls of the innings. The Mystics raced to 67/1 by the end of the powerplay. The 52-run stand between Sisodia and Nikin Jose was broken by impact player Gautam Mishra in the fourth over. Jose had accumulated 21 runs when he retired hurt in the seventh over. Pavan Prajwal (7 off 12) was the next to depart, trapped LBW by Shikar Shetty in the eighth over.
With a climbing asking rate, Smaran R and KV Siddharth took charge, stitching a 66-run partnership in 40 balls. Smaran was eventually caught at deep mid-wicket off the bowling of Karthik CA in the 15th over, leaving the Mystics at 140/3.
From there, Pravin Dubey (53* off 19) provided the late-innings fireworks. With 69 runs needed from the final five overs, Dubey launched Gautam Mishra for two sixes in the 16th over and followed it up with three more in the 18th. That blitz brought the equation down to 22 runs off 12 balls. With three runs required off the final delivery, Dubey carved a six off impact player Kumar LR to complete a stunning heist.
Invited to bat first, the Mysore Warriors were in early trouble, slumping to 37/3 by the end of the powerplay. Prithviraj Shekhawat castled Karthik SU in the opening over, while Lavish Kaushal removed both Karthik CA (17 off 13) and Harshil Dharmani (11 off 11), conceding very little in return.
Venkatesh M and captain Manish Pandey (29 off 19) revived the innings with a 73-run stand in just 38 balls. Pandey fell to Shashikumar Kamble in the 12th over, with the score at 110/4.
Venkatesh, undeterred, brought up a crucial half-century in 31 balls and continued his onslaught alongside Yashovardhan Parantap. The duo dominated the Mystics bowling attack, putting on a 91-run stand in 46 balls. The 17th over, bowled by Vyshak Vijaykumar, proved to be the most expensive—going for 21 runs, including three sixes, two by Parantap.
Parantap, who struck three fours and four sixes, was finally dismissed in the final over by Monish Reddy. Venkatesh remained unbeaten on 93, having struck six boundaries and five sixes to guide his side to 209/5 in their 20 overs.
