Australian spearhead Mitchell Starc had established himself as arguably the world’s prominent ODI fast bowler during a stunning 2015 World Cup campaign. But he has been out of action since due to an ankle surgery. Starc is all set to make a comeback to the national squad in the tri-series in West Indies, also featuring South Africa.

Starc is so close to making a world record of being the quickest bowler to take 100 wickets in ODIs. Currently, he has 90 wickets in 46 games – meaning he requires 10 more in six matches.

The tri-series will begin on 5th June and Australia is scheduled to play six matches – three each against South Africa and West Indies and the final of the tri-series to be played on 26th June. stand-in Australia coach Justin Langer said that Starc will be carefully managed on his comeback tour.

“He’s had such an impact on international cricket over the last few years, but we’ll have to manage him well as well – he hasn’t bowled for a long time. Coming from no cricket, and that’s including no practice games, straight into international cricket, he’s got some challenges ahead, but it’s not just about this tour for him, it’s about the next very busy year,” he said.
