Four stands at the Eden Gardens to bear the names of slain war heroes

The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is one of the most iconic grounds in the world to play the game of cricket. The aura and the electrifying atmosphere at the stadium during a match will surely give one goose bumps. Though the capacity of the ground has been cut down in recent years the ambience inside the stadium still continues to be the same. According to reports, in a novel initiative, the Eden Gardens is set to dedicate four of its stands to the slain war heroes. The stands will be renamed in the memory of the martyred war heroes. The four stands will be in the names of Col NJ Nair, Lt Col Dhan Singh, PVC Sub Joginder and Hav Hanganan Dada. Sports minister Vijay Goel took it to social media website twitter to confirm the news as he retweeted the same. Any information regarding the date of the formal inauguration of the stands has not been declared. Gambhir who has guided the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in the Indian Premier League twice said that he is ready to bear the full expenses of those children. The dependable batsman’s charitable foundation would be taking care of the expenses and initial steps have already been taken. Gautam himself said that he was shocked by the incidents and pictures that appeared in the newspaper the next day. Gambhir wrote in his column for Hindustan times “On Wednesday morning, I picked up newspapers and saw gut-wrenching pictures of the daughters of two CRPF men killed in the latest attacks. One was saluting her martyred father while in the other picture, the howling young woman was being consoled by her relative”
