At a time when bilateral relations between India and Pakistan are at an all-time low, former India opener Gautam Gambhir, on Saturday, showed the way forward with a beautiful gesture. Despite his differences with Pakistan, the BJP politician did not hesitate in helping a Pakistani family get a visa. Six-year-old Omaima Ali from Pakistan needs heart surgery and Gambhir ensured that she and her family get the visa for travelling to India.

India have never let political tension affect the common Pakistani people who need medical assistance and Gambhir only extended that legacy. The legendary batsman took it upon himself to arrange the visa for the Pakistani family. He wrote a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar appraising him of a girl in Pakistan whose parents wanted to bring her to India for heart surgery.

S Jaishankar was quick to respond to Gambhir’s request as he took the required step. He asked the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to issue visas to the girl and her parents so that she could travel to India. Later in the evening, Gambhir himself took to Twitter to reveal the news to the world and set a beautiful example.

Gambhir speaks about his action

It is very well known that Gautam Gambhir is not very fond of Pakistan. He has always been critical of the neighbouring country. Thus many were surprised when Gambhir came forward to help the minor girl. Later in the day, Gambhir himself cleared his stance on Pakistan. The former cricketer said that he only has a problem with the Pakistan government and the terror outfits emerging from the country.

“I requested EAM and I am thankful that he has accepted the request and granted the visa. I am thankful to the PM & Home Minister too. Hopefully, she can get treated well,” Gautam Gambhir said as quoted by DNA.

“I have always maintained one thing that I have problem with Pakistan government, ISI and the terrorist outfits that are there in Pakistan, but if the 6-year-old girl can get treated in India, what better can happen,” he added.
