IPL 2018: Billy Stanlake ruled out of the tournament

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had begun the Indian Premier League (IPL) season with a bang with three victories on the trot. But since then their fortunes have swung dramatically as they lost a couple of matches and their key players also got injured. While they will miss the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the game against Mumbai Indians, their key bowler Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of the tournament. However, this is a huge blow for them as he was performing extremely well for the team in the early stages.

Stanlake was a key bowler for SRH this season as he was generating fiery pace while bowling and was hurrying the batsmen. In 4 matches which he played, the tall cricketer also picked 5 wickets while completed his quota of overs in all matches. He was also not much expensive conceding just over 8 runs an over.

SRH twitter handle confirmed the news

The news was confirmed by the official Twitter handle of SRH and informed the fans that he was ruled out due to the fractured finger. “Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2018 owing to a fractured finger. The #OrangeArmy wishes him a speedy recovery,” the tweet read. There were a lot of speculations after he was not included in the XI in the last game itself but there was no news about his injury. The franchise has not announced any replacement for him right now but they will soon be looking for someone to fill his place.

As far as the current match is concerned, SRH lost the toss and they were invited to bat first by the hosts Mumbai Indians. The team in Orange included Basil Thampi in the team as Mohammad Nabi will also play his first game of the season. Though they were boosted by the return of Shikhar Dhawan who was fit after getting injured a couple of matches ago.
