D’Arcy Short may have been phenomenal for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL) in the past but he’s scarcely been able to recreate that sensation for his IPL side, Rajasthan Royals (RR). Although he was touted as one of the most exciting prospects to have been roped in by the Ajinkya Rahane-led side who could very well fill in the void left by Steve Smith’s absence, the 27-year-old has rather been a let down.

With just 109 runs to his credit in 5 matches ahead of the crucial match against the KXIP, D’Arcy Short was given another chance to open the innings for Rajasthan and therein was committed a major blunder that cost RR the match and pushed them down the points table. Short was dismissed cheaply off a blind attempt at a slog for just 2 runs. The move to replace the RR skipper from his usual spot as an opener spelled doom for RR as Rahane, too, was sent packing for a personal total of just 5 runs.
