IPL 2019: 5 Bangladesh players who will shine in the tournament if picked

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction set to take place in Jaipur on Tuesday, December 18, the excitement surrounding the mega event is on an escalation. A total of 70 slots are available for 1003 players, who’ll go under the hammer. Cricketers from Bangladesh are likely to be auctioned as well. Only five of the Tigers’ players have gone on to grace their presence in the IPL. Among them, while all-round cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has effortlessly been the most prominent name in the extravaganza, Mutafizur Rahman has also done well in the T20 event. Nevertheless, a lot of them, both from the international and domestic circuit, has the ability to deliver the goods for the franchises. However, being one of Bangladesh’s most dependable players, he has the prowess to shine in the T20 event. He is fearless and doesn’t mind throwing caution to the wind. The experienced campaigner recently recovered from a wrist injury and can be an asset to any team. In 174 T20 matches, the southpaw has notched 4730 runs at an average of 29.93 with a couple of tons. He hasn’t been a part of the mega tournament in India, but can definitely weave his magic. The fact that he is a spin-bowling all-rounder makes him a handy prospect in Indian conditions where the spinners get a fair amount of assistance from the slow and low wickets. The Mymensingh-born player has an experience of 181 T20s in which he has scored 3163 runs at an average of 24.51. Mahmudullah also boasts of 10 fifties, something which manifests his credibility to do well in the format. He went unsold in the 2016 IPL, however, can turn out to be a captain’s delight in the IPL. The pocket-size dynamite doesn’t play the extravagant strokes but makes sure that the scoreboard keeps moving. With an experience of 153 matches, he knocks the tricks and trade of the shortest format. He has scored 2933 runs in T20s at an average of 26.42. Moreover, the 31-year-old has 16 half-centuries to his name. A strike-rate of 125.82 in T20s can’t be undermined any stretch of he the imagination. The left-armer bowls at an economy rate of 7.71, which isn’t bad in the shortest format by any means. Though he has only 104 runs in T20 cricket, a strike-rate of 140.54 shows that he can also fetch useful runs batting lower down the order. Furthermore, being a left-arm seamer, he can add the X-factor to any team. Also, Rony has an effective slower delivery in his repertoire apart from possessing the ability to bowl Yorkers. He was also among the leading wicket-takers in the erstwhile edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) where he racked up 15 wickets in 13 encounters at an impressive economy rate of 7.60. Both have slingy actions and can be hard to pick if someone is playing them for the first time. He can bowl the slower delivery and can swing the ball back into the batsman, which has caused trouble to a number of them. In 78 T20s, Al Amin has picked up 96 wickets at an economy of 8.07. Moreover, he bowls at a decent economy of 8.07. He also has the distinction of picking up a hatrick in the BPL, representing Barisal Bulls in their match against Sylhet Superstars. He can run through any batting lineup and the same attribute can make him a handy player in the IPL, provided he gets picked in the auction.
