Mitchell Marsh’s comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been cut short only after one game. Rather he couldn’t even contribute in the opening game for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after getting injured in the first over of his bowling. Even with the bat, he came out at number 10 and bagged a golden duck only to worsen his ankle injury.

On Wednesday, the SRH management confirmed that the all-rounder has been ruled out of the whole tournament and is now finding it tough to get back home as well. His schedule ride back home – a chartered flight to Adelaide – along with other 19 Australian participants will only take off once the IPL ends on November 10. With that date almost 50 days away, Mitchell Marsh is looking for a commercial flight to reach his home in Perth.

However, due to the Coroanvirus-enforced restrictions, he is finding it tough even as the BCCI and Cricket Australia (CA) are attempting to resolve the problem.

14-day quarantine a must before entering Western Australia

According to the reports in Sydney Morning Herald, Mitchell Marsh is willing to fly directly back home. But for that to happen, he must be granted an exemption from Western Australian Government in terms of quarantine. However, once he reaches home, he is ready to get quarantined for two weeks.

The reports also suggest that Marsh could be forced to fly to South Australia first and quarantine him for two weeks in Adelaide Oval hotel before heading to Perth where again he will have to quarantined for 14 days. Marsh’s visit to the UAE has literally been limited to only a very few days due to the injury instead, he will have to spend almost a month now in quarantine itself unless he is exempted from the quarantine in South Australia.

Meanwhile, CA is yet to determine the extent of Mitchell Marsh’s injury and is hoping that it doesn’t hinder his participation in the home summer later this year. He fared well in the white-ball series in England earlier this month and it remains to be seen when the all-rounder will be back on the field.
