IPL 2022: Performance of the most expensive buy of each team
Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan for a whopping INR 15.25 crore, the most expensive buy at this year's auction.
5. Royal Challengers Bangalore- Harshal Patel/Wanindu Hasaranga (10.75 Cr)
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained just three players before the auction to free up some funds for new players. RCB made two smart signings in the form of Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Harshal had a stunning IPL 2021 when he picked up the joint-highest wickets in an IPL season (32). The canny bowler was called to the national side after his impressive performances. Patel didn’t quite hit the heights of last season in IPL 2022, but the right-arm pacer was RCB’s go-to bowler at the death and he delivered for his side on many occasions. He ended the season with 19 wickets going at a lowly 7.66 runs per over.
Wanindu Hasaranga came into the IPL with huge expectations as he was the leading wicket-taker in T20Is for Sri Lanka in 2021. Hasaranga delivered as he scalped 26 wickets and was second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022. The deceptive spinner troubled batters throughout the campaign and was one of the main factors behind RCB’s late surge in the tournament that saw them make it through the playoffs.
