IPL 2022: Performance of the most expensive buy of each team
Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan for a whopping INR 15.25 crore, the most expensive buy at this year's auction.
6. Delhi Capitals – Shardul Thakur (INR 10.75 crore)
Delhi Capitals did some shrewd business in the auction ahead of IPL 2022. The Capitals prized out Shardul Thakur for INR 10.75 crore, and it seemed like a good signing on paper at the time. Thakur is a canny bowler who uses his variations to great effects in the middle and death overs.
The pacer had an impressive season with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 where he picked up 21 wickets for the four-time winners. He led CSK to another title by bagging three crucial wickets in the final against Kolkata Knight Riders. Thakur is more than handy with the bat in hand as he has showcased his batting skills in red-ball cricket on a few occasions.
The Maharashtra man did not have the same impact for the Delhi Capitals this time around as leaked runs for his side at an alarming rate. Although he picked up 15 wickets, his poor bowling in pressure situations let the team down. He did score some handy runs for his new franchise but it was an underwhelming season for the pacer overall.
