IPL 2022: Updated Points Table, Orange and Purple Cap lists after SRH vs RCB, CSK vs DC
Both RCB and CSK won their respective matches on Sunday.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managed to win their matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals respectively on May 8 (Sunday). Both the teams managed to win the match comfortably and gained two vital points.
In the afternoon match, RCB, after winning the toss, decided to have a bat first. Skipper Faf du Plessis (73* off 50 balls), Rajat Patidar (48 off 38 balls), and Dinesh Karthik (30* off 8 balls) were the prominent performers for the Red Army as they reached 192. For SRH, Jagadeesha Suchith (two wickets) and Kartik Tyagi (one wicket) were the successful bowlers.
In reply, SRH got off to a disastrous start as openers Abhishek Sharma and captain Kane Williamson were sent back to the pavilion within the first over. Batter Rahul Tripathi (58 off 37 balls) and South African batter Aiden Markram (21 off 27 balls) tried to bring SRH back into the contest, however, it was too much to ask from both batters as SRH lost their contest by 67 runs. Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was adjudged the Player of the Match for scalping five wickets.
CSK maul DC in the second match
In the second match, DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, their plan backfired as some excellent knocks from Ruturaj Gaikwad (41 off 33), Devon Conway (87 off 49), Shivam Dube (32 off 19), and Skipper MS Dhoni (21* off 8), ensured that the defending champions posted a huge total of 208 runs in their 20 overs. For DC, express pacer Anrich Nortje was the pick of the bowlers, scalping three wickets.
In reply, DC had a fair start, however, the CSK bowlers applied pressure and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. For DC, batter Mitchell Marsh (25 off 20 balls) was the highest run-getter. Skipper Dhoni used his bowlers well as all of them scalped at least one wicket.
After today’s victory, RCB are placed fourth on the points table while CSK have claimed the eighth spot ahead of KKR and five-time champions MI.
