Former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson ended his professional career after opting out of a contract with Perth Scorchers for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League. He hasn’t bid the game a complete goodbye and is currently playing in the indoor cricket tournament in Perth. Johnson featured for The MBC team that was up against Bowling Darts in a contest on Monday night. He returned with unbelievable figures of 7 for -35 in two overs.

The left-armer bowled spin and picked up seven wickets at the cost of what? Negative 35 runs. This has a lot to do with the rules of indoor cricket – 8 players constitute the team in the 16 overs a side match, two batsmen form a pair, bat for four overs a pair. All the eight players bowl two overs each and when a batsman is dismissed he doesn’t walk back, stays there until the end of their four overs but with every wicket the batting team loses five runs.

As per the scoresheet of the match, he also had a stumping to his name which never happened during his international cricketer. Johnson in his tweet clarified that he was playing C grade with his mates for some fun and that he is a really bad batter.

Despite Johnson’s bowling efforts, the Bowling Darts managed to win the game 51-100 as only one player from The MBC had a positive score to his name. They haven’t done really well in the tournament and thus far after 18 matches have just two wins in their account. The 36-year-old pacer has featured in three of those games for the struggling side.

The left-armer might have called it time on his BBL career but will play the T10 League in the UAE this summer.
