Skipper David Warner says Australia need to play their brand of cricket
India will take on Australia in the 2nd T20I tomorrow in Guwahati.
Australiaās stand-in-captain David Warner has said that the visitors are not demoralised and that they will look to play the āAussie brandā of cricket. Australia lost the 1st T20I against India in Ranchi after the match was hit by rain. The visitors could bat till the 18.4 overs and were able to score only 118 runs losing 8 wickets within those many overs.
They have earlier lost the ODI series too by a margin of 1-4. None of the Australian batsmen apart from opener Aaron Finch looked in good touch. They will go all guns blazing to win the next one in Guwahati tomorrow and keep the series alive.
āWe have just got to keep going out there and keep backing ourselves 100 per cent. We have just got to keep playing the game that we know and thatās the brand of cricket that we bring to the table,ā Warner told reporters on the eve of their second T20I.
āI donāt look too much into it. At the end of the day even if you get out early then thereās a collapse in the middle after a partnership, everyone becomes frustrated. No one wants to get out. Yeah thereās always reasons why it happens. People talk about pressure, people talk about having two batsmen in and then having two batsmen get out.ā he added
Its challenging to win here: Warner
The tour of India has been challenging for the Aussies, right from adapting to the conditions to the wickets and the Indian team have all come hard at them. Despite the change in formats their fortunes didnāt as the Indian bowlers trumped them once again in Ranchi.
āItās important no matter what the circumstance, we try and win every game possible. Just getting a victory over here is always challenging, itās going to be tough, you have to play to the best of your ability,ā said the captain.
The skipper said that his side has got a lot to play for. āIf you give India a sniff on your home soil or even away, theyāre going to pounce. You have to be on top of your game to beat an opposition in their country. Weāve got a lot to play for,ā Warner said.
āI try and follow those same key messages to ensure that when we are doing our best, making sure we are committed and we are preparing as well as we can to go out on the field. Thatās all I can do to the best of my ability and obviously it is up to the players to follow directions and leads,ā he said.
