As India march towards dominance across all format, the focus then shifts towards the North East India in the state of Assam and the city of Guwahati, which last hosted an International match back in 2010 against New Zealand. Although, this time around, the match will be hosted at the brand new Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

The new stadium at Guwahati is the 49th International venue to host a match in India. There has been no other country even close to the number of international venues produced by India. In fact, Thiruvananthapuram is yet another International stadium scheduled to be hosting its first match soon.

The Australian cricketers spend quite a while touring India off-late due to their respective stints in the IPL and also bilateral ties between the two countries. As a result, the Aussies travel through all ranges of latitude and longitude in the country, from Dharamsala to Cuttack and Ranchi to Rajkot. It may be difficult, for them to remember the names of each and every venue in the respective cities.

The Assamese are one of the most hospitable and warm people in the country and as a result, they received the players by offering them the traditional hat and cloth- Gamosa and Japi. Elated with the kind of response, Australia’s stand-in captain David Warner quickly snapped a selfie wearing the traditional hat and cloth wrapped around his neck.

Warner took to Instagram to first post the picture and shared the link on his Twitter feed by captioning the name of the city incorrectly. Instead of ‘Guwahati’, David Warner used the word ‘Guhawati’ which did not amuse many Indians.

One of them named Ashish Pratap Singh instantly corrected the Aussie captain by Tweeting, “It’s Guwahati bro..not Guhawati.” To which Warner replied by stating that his spelling his bad,” Sorry bro my spelling is bad very bad.”
