Kusal Mendis is all set to join Gujarat Titans (GT) as Jos Buttler's replacement ahead of the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) playoffs. The England wicketkeeper-batter is scheduled to leave the 10-team tournament on May 26 to join the England squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies.

Mendis reportedly opted out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and decided to play in the IPL instead. He was previously representing the Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan's premier T20 tournament. However, due to security concerns, Mendis decided against returning to Pakistan after the tournament was temporarily suspended.

The Sri Lankan glovesman revealed that he couldn't bring his kitbag home along with him from Pakistan. He made several attempts to get it down to the Island Nation, as he had to take it with him to India for the IPL. However, none of them bore fruit. In the end, a person named Mr. Wayne, who is a Sri Lankan residing in Pakistan, brought the kitbag to Colombo and handed it over to Kusal Mendis. The flamboyant cricketer posted a picture with the kind-hearted individual and appreciated his efforts.

"Unfortunately when I Had to leave @OfficialPSL suddenly I had to leave my kitbag behind, Tried everything to get it down to join @ipl but nothing worked, when this amazing Sri Lankan Mr. Wayne who is living in Pakistan, flew all the way to colombo to bring my kitbag amazing human," Mendis wrote on his 'X' handle.
