Life has come full circle for pacer Mukesh Kumar after being selected in the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa starting Thursday, October 6. Both Mukesh and promising batter Rajat Patidar have got a maiden India call-up after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the squad on Sunday, October 8.

Mukesh Kumar is currently participating in the Irani Cup 2022. He is representing the Rest of India against Saurashtra. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old's achievement of finally making it to the national team was celebrated by his ROI teammates who made the occasion memorable for Kumar.

ROI players ecstatic after Mukesh Kumar gets selected in the Indian team

Mukesh Kumar finally got to know about being selected in the Indian team after he was added to the national cricket team's Whatsapp group and when his Rest of India teammates learned about this, their joy knew no bounds as they celebrated the occasion in the bus which was heading back to the team hotel in Saurashtra.

In the video two players can be heard saying "Hey Vinod! Haa bhaiya? Pata hain na tum Indian team me select hue? Haa bhaiya", after which everyone burst out in laughter. The video ended with all them cheering for Mukesh Kumar collectively, "Three cheers for Mukesh, Hip Hip Hurray, Hip Hip Hurray, Hip Hip Hurray".

It now remains to be seen whether the Bengal pacer gets selected in the playing XI during the three-match series. Mukesh got an India call-up just days after his four wickets in the first innings bundled out Saurashtra for a paltry 98. Kumar, who will be turning 29 later this month was also impressive against New Zealand A where he finished with nine wickets from three matches.

The promising pacer had finished as Bengal's joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2021/22 edition of the Ranji Trophy with 20 scalps to his name in nine innings.
