With the new wave of social media surfacing in this day and age, there's a lot which rides upon it. Gone are the days of relying solely on physical encyclopedias for information. However, with all the boons which social media has on offer, there come a fair share of detriments as well.

After Ian Bishop rubbished an inappropriately-linked claim which reported him stating something along the lines of Rishabh Pant being much more skilled than Sanju Samson, another development of the like has come to the fore, this time targetting former Indian and ex-Mumbai Indians cricketer, Parthiv Patel. A post which has now been deleted by the user from the account via which it was posted on X, associated Parthiv correlating MI's waning performances in IPL 2024 to the transfer of captaincy from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya.

To this allegation, Parthiv was prompt to take to X, clarifying that it was a pseudo quote being spread and that he hadn't even covered the LSG-MI game, while in fact, the previous games he'd covered were the double-header the previous Sunday (28/04/24). He further insisted the user and others to abstain from circulating untrue information for the sake of digital leverage.

Chances of MI making the playoffs dwindle after fourth loss in five games

The four-wicket defeat at the hands of the Lucknow Super Giants has added to the misery of the Mumbai Indians, who further slumped to ninth position on the table with just three wins from 10 games, and their chances of going past the group stage have decreased to a razor-thin margin. They would need to win the remainder of their games by a comprehensive margin as well as bank on other results to go their way, which seems desparingly improbable at present.
