Reports: Rawalpindi cricket stadium hit by drone ahead of PSL game
Match No. 27 of PSL 2025 has been rescheduled to Karachi.
A drone crash near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium just hours before a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match has triggered serious security concerns and forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to relocate the game and the rest of the tournament to Karachi.
The incident occurred hours before the scheduled PSL 2025 clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings on Thursday evening. As per reports, the drone crashed into a restaurant near the stadium, injuring two civilians and causing partial structural damage. Both injured individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
In the middle of the geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, security agencies have sealed off the area and begun an investigation into the drone’s origin and whether it carried a payload. Visuals from the scene quickly went viral on social media.
In reply to the crash and the security situation, the PCB convened an emergency meeting at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium with franchise owners and top law enforcement officials in attendance. After extensive deliberations, the board decided to move all remaining matches of PSL Season 10 to Karachi.
