India batsmen made merry after they elected to bat first in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium, which was marked to be MS Dhoni’s 300th ODI game. Centuries from India’s Captain and Vice-captain – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma – powered India to a record total of 375/5 in the 50 overs.

The limited-overs stars put on a double century stand which was followed with four wickets in quick succession. However, a century partnership towards the end between Dhoni and Manish Pandey ensured the top orders’ effort didn’t go in vain. The 6th wicket 100-run stand between Dhoni and Pandey became the 400th century partnership ever recorded for India in ODI cricket. This made them the first team to record 400 partnerships of 100 and more in this format.
