Young Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman has become a household name after a scintillating run in the Champions Trophy. His attacking nature of play has earned him widespread admiration. The legends of the game and the cricket pundits are lauding his game and things can certainly not get any better for the young promising talent. The Champions Trophy 2017 started with a brisk start for Zaman.

After having missed out on being a part of the playing eleven in the first game against India, he was drafted in the lineup against South Africa. He got a decent score in 30s on the day. In the next game against Sri Lanka, he hit a brilliant fifty at the top order to set the stage for Pakistan’s run chase of 237 runs. The big moment arrived when Pakistan met England in the semis.

Nobody had given them a sniff against the hosts. But Pakistan managed to bowl out England for a paltry 211. Needless to say, the English players were miffed with it. Fakhar Zaman only added to their miseries by attacking them in the powerplay. Recalling the moments in the game, Zaman noted that the majority of the crowd was Pakistani and that kept him going.

“When we played against England, almost 80% of the fans in the ground were Pakistani supporters which was brilliant,” quoted Fakhar Zaman.

The English pacers tried their best to get under the skin of Zaman. The southpaw revealed that Liam Plunkett tried sledging him. However, it was all in vain as he just shook his head and told Plunkett that he does not know English. “Against England, Plunkett came by me & sledged me, I just shook my head and said ‘no English’ & he just walked away,” said Zaman.

Appreciating India’s gesture

In the final roadblock, Pakistan faced India in the finals, Fakhar Zaman was the man of the finals with a superlative hundred to his name. Recalling the moment, he appreciated the way Indian players reacted after he got to the milestone.

“When I got to my hundred I thought they would ignore it but when I looked at Kohli he was graciously clapping for me,” noted Zaman.
