Top 10 Bowlers with most maidens in Tests: Today we will look at some of the most disciplined bowlers who knew the exact method and formula to keep the batsmen quiet. Every dot ball adds to the pressure on the batsman and bowling maidens usually does the trick and gets the team the breakthroughs as no batsman likes to be tied to an end. Bowlers who blocked the runs picked up wickets and interestingly bowled the most number of maidens. Interestingly, Bedi bowled 1096 maiden overs in Test cricket. He also scalped 266 wickets at an average of 28.71 and an economy of 2.14. Playing for New Zealand, Vettori scalped 362 wickets in Test cricket at an average of 34.36 and an economy of 2.59. He bowled 1197 maiden overs to his credit. Daniel was one of the most vital cogs in the New Zealand ranks. 7. Shaun Pollock (South Africa) – 1222: Shaun Pollock. In 86 matches, Underwood has scalped 297 wickets at an average of 25.83 and an economy of 2.10. He has bowled 1239 maiden overs in Test cricket with the best figures of 8/51 against Pakistan in the year 1974. 5. Lance Gibbs (West Indies) – 1313: Georgetown, GUYANA: Lance Gibbs. He played 79 Test matches for West Indies, picking up 309 wickets at an average of 29.09 with a staggering economy of 1.98. He registered 1313 maiden overs in his career with 18 fifers; he also had a couple of 10-wicket hauls to his credit. 4. Glenn McGrath has 563 wickets to his tally at an average of 21.64 and an economy of 2.49. He had been a miser with the ball, bowling 1470 maiden overs. His best bowling figures of 8/24 came against Pakistan in the year 2004/05. McGrath has 29, 5-wicket hauls to his credit. 3. Anil Kumble (India) – 1576: Anil Kumble. He bowled 1576 maiden overs in Test cricket for India. Kumble registered 35 fifer’s and 8 ten-wicket hauls. He picked up 10 wickets for 74 runs in an innings against Pakistan at Kotla in the year 1999 and was the best performance of his career. 2. Shane Warne (Australia) – 1761: Shane Warne. He also picked up 37 five-wicket hauls and 10 ten-wicket hauls in his glorious career. 1. He has registered 800 wickets in Test match cricket at an average of 22.72 and an economy of 2.47 and till date is the leading wicket-taker in ODIs as well as international cricket.
