In what has been a thriller match, Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers battled it out against each other in the Match 25th of the Big Bash League. Sean Abbott starred with the ball for the Sydney Sixers as he clinched four wickets in the match. The pacer ran through the opposition’s batting unit to restrict them to a low total of 105 runs.

The top order of Brisbane Heat was unable to provide any sort of resilience as skipper Jimmy Peirson (0), Chris Lynn (2) and Tom Cooper (7) departed early on. Ben Dwarshuis provided the Sixers with their first breakthrough whereas Abbott then broke the back of the opposition’s middle and lower-middle order

Hayden Kerr was also quite economical with the ball clinching two wickets by leaking just 18 runs from his four overs. A clinical bowling display by the team helped them to restrict Brisbane Heat early on as the team was wrapped up before the completion of the 20 overs.

However, Brisbane Heat did not let the chase be a cakewalk for the Sydney Sixers. Keeper-batter Josh Philippe and James Vince departed for a duck as the team was reduced to 2-0 in the second over. The Sixer’s middle order was unable to hold the fort of the side as wickets kept falling frequently.

However, it was Sean Abbott yet again who stood for the team with the bat this time. He stood firm on the pitch and chipped in crucial runs for the team. He played a valuable unbeaten knock of 37 runs which helped the side reach the total. Ben Dwarshuis assisted him well as Sixers emerged triumphantly by two wickets owing to their fabulous 9th wicket partnership.

The Sydney Sixers have had a good run in the high-profile tournament so far. The Moises Henriques-led side has managed to win six games from the seven that they have played in the tournament so far. After this win, they are placed at the top of the BBL points table with 21 points to their account.

Brisbane Heat on the other hand hasn’t been able to make a larger impact on the tournament yet. The side has secured victories in two matches from the seven they have played in the mega event so far. They find themselves in the fifth position of the points table with nine points to their account.
