Ever since the final of Nidahas Trophy which took place earlier this year, Dinesh Karthik is the name circulating on everyone’s lips. A match-winning knock from a practically improbably situation, captaincy of one of the most consistent sides of the Indian Premier League and now a call-up to the national limited overs team, Karthik is going through the purplest of purple patches, and Twitterati rejoiced BCCI‘s decision of rewarding him for his spectacular performances.

Karthik has been in the scheme of things for a very long time, and while his contemporary Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke records after records, he faded into oblivion. But the Tamil Nadu lad is back and is now ready to make every opportunity count. In 10 IPL matches he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders this year, the 32-year-old has scored 316 runs at a staggering average of over 50.

He knocked quite hard on the national selectors’ door and they have opened it wide for Karthik. India is expected to play T20Is against Ireland, after which they will visit the neighbouring country to play three ODIs and as many T20Is against England before finally moving on to a long and strenuous five-match Test series. Karthik will don the national colours in the limited overs format and Twitterati cannot explain their joy.

Here is the Twitter banter
