Star sprinter Usain bolt has tested positive for coronavirus just days after partying with guests on his birthday. The party also featured many prominent names including West Indies’ cricketer Chris Gayle and footballers Raheem Sterling and Leon Bailey.

According to reports, Bolt has contracted the virus and he will now have to spend time in self-isolation until he recovers. The sprinter took a COVID-19 test a few days ago where he discovered that he had tested positive for the virus.

Guests in the birthday party were celebrating without any safety measures

Several photos of Bolt’s 34th birthday party had surfaced on social media where the guests were singing and dancing outdoors without any safety measures. The guests were spotted without masks, not adhering to social distancing in the birthday celebrations. Bolt had even tweeted ‘Best birthday ever’ last week after the celebrations.

The celebrations showed Bolt laughing and dancing with his guests and even taking the microphone while the speakers blasted out singer Adele’s song. It’s not yet clear whether the eight-time Olympic gold medalist is showing in symptoms. However, local media suggests that he has self-isolated himself. The news about Gayle testing COVID-19 positive was reported by Nationwide90fm.

It was a surprise party comprising many famous names. Chris Gayle apparently was the most famous name related to cricket. The West Indies stalwart wasn’t involved in any tournament after pulling out of Caribbean Premier League 2020. Gayle had stated to his franchise Lucia Zouks that he would not be available to play due to personal reasons.

One of the most lethal batsmen of the T20 format, Gayle is set to star in the upcoming edition of IPL. He is associated with KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab. In his last IPL season, the left-handed opener had scored 368 runs, bolstering the Punjab franchise’s top-order in the tournament. In this year’s IPL in the UAE, Gayle is anticipated to form a strong opening partnership with the newly-appointed skipper KL Rahul.

Jamaica has so far registered 1413 COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths. Meanwhile, 817 individuals have successfully managed to recover from the deadly virus. However, with 410 new cases in the last 14 days, Jamaica could witness a surge in positive cases in the next few days.
